The word “biometrics” is derived from the Greek words for life and measurement. The science of biometrics and its associated technology involves measuring and analyzing biological data. This data includes: finger and palm prints, hand geometry, iris, facial characteristics, vein pattern recognition, and much more.
In the future, biometrics will be everywhere in our daily lives. Biometrics are already used in physical security access, banking, time clock systems, electronic commerce, access control, identity verification, etc. It can be found in airports, government facilities, private industry, and law enforcement. In the near future, it will become more prevalent in areas such as hospitals, hotels, schools and school buses, computers, phones, vehicles, and amusement parks. Biometrics can even be used to determine your preferences when you log-in to a computer or pick up a mobile device.
Recognizing that all of these biometric applications will need to be tested and in many cases certified, iBeta Quality Assurance has become an accredited Biometrics Testing Lab (NVLAP Lab Code 200962) and has developed a Quality Management System and biometrics test procedures that have been independently audited by NVLAP (National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program) in a comprehensive technical evaluation in accordance with the recognized International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005.
