iBeta Earns Additional Scope Accreditations for Biometrics Testing
Aurora, Colorado – September 11, 2013 –
iBeta Quality Assurance (“iBeta”), a National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) accredited Biometrics Testing Laboratory, has received two scope expansions to its current accreditations from NVLAP. iBeta can now certify biometrics products to the ISO Graded Performance Standards and ANSI/NIST ITL 1-2011 Data Format for the Interchange of Fingerprint, Facial and Other Biometric Information.
iBeta is very excited to receive these accreditations from NVLAP under the auspices of NIST. NIST is a non-regulatory federal agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce. NIST’s mission is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life.
Graded Performance Testing will be conducted in accordance with ISO/IEC 19795-5 which provides the test method for performance testing of biometrics systems and subsystems. The performance testing is designed to understand and predict the deployed biometric system error rates and transaction times. The error rates determined include the false accept rate, false reject rate, failure to enroll, and failure to acquire rates based on a defined test population. The testing conducted to the iBeta audited and approved processes and procedures results in a final product test report that documents the tested level of performance and a grade that includes the statistical confidence.
The ANIS/NIST ITL 1-2011 Certification Testing is conducted using the NIST Conformance Test Suite to verify data format to the interchange standards. These standards enforce a common format for the data exchange across jurisdictional lines or between differing biometric systems manufactured by varying vendors.
iBeta is now accredited to test to not only these additional test methods but also the previously accredited BioAPI and CBEFF test methods. iBeta also remains a DEA approved 3rd party test lab to certify biometric systems or subsystems for use in Electronic Prescription of Controlled Substances applications.
With this increased scope, iBeta is now capable of providing biometric vendors with certifications that can be used to open the many marketing areas in the fast growing world and use of biometrics.
