iBeta's Security Audit
The iBeta Security Audit allows clients to show that their software has been independently tested for a specified range of security issues. Software that passes the security audit is verified to be free from issues in the following areas:
- Spyware - does the software have embedded spyware, key loggers or does it 'phone home'?
- Adware - does the software install third party applications that are not required for normal operations? (Such as unrequested toolbars or browser hijackers.)
- Viruses - does the software trigger antivirus traps? Does the software unknowingly cause damage to the system state?
- Pop-Up - does the software work with pop-up blockers? Do pop-up blockers cause the software to behave in an undesirable way?
- Firewall - compatibility with packet filtering, circuit level, application gateway, and packet inspection firewalls.
- Permission Escalation - can the application be used to escalate the local user to a higher permission level?
- Exploits - can a third party exploit the software to gain local system access? (via brute force, buffer overflows, etc.)
