Projects: Large Multinational Placement Agency
• The project surrounded a set of
intranet-based software applications that were designed to interface
with a variety of company data sources-some of these data sources and
the applications that drive them were developed from the ground-up
specifically for this client, while others were off-the-shelf solutions
requiring some new interface development.
• The
ability for data to flow from one application to another without danger
of corruption was critical to the success of the project; iBeta's
test plans captured this data flow and designed
specific tests to make sure that data was not compromised.
• The sheer number of different
user-types involved in this project required an extensive permissions
testing to ensure proper isolation of available data and features.
• This project required that
stress-testing be performed so that the same level of accuracy
experienced in light-duty tests were also observed in large-scale tests
that stressed the system; iBeta used automated
testing tools (Mercury Interactive LoadRunner) to verify these results.
• iBeta employed
Mercury Interactive Topaz (an internet-based automated monitoring tool)
in support of this development and system configuration; 24/7/365
uptime monitoring was performed.
• One of the primary risks associated
with this project was the potential of lost data during the cut-over to
the new systems. iBeta performed extensive testing
both prior to and after the transfer to verify proper data transfer.
As this project dealt with the conversation of an
existing system to one that was to be used in another country, much of
the QA testing surrounded data field testing. Data fields were adjusted
and nomenclature changed in a variety of areas to ensure local
compatibility; these changes needed specific testing and evaluation
prior to launch.
